Reading newspapers, blogs, aggregators like Mashable, Digg, Delicious - I also use Google Alerts to send me emails about stuff I'm interested in.

You're welcome! I love it when I can answer a question before its asked!  I also have another method that I use once I have a niche that I was to create a product/article on.  Its actually an idea generator that gives me 20 ways to create an article/product in the niche I have selected.

   its called the wizard outline generator and it was created by one of my fellow mastermind members Rick Roberts.   With just a few questions, the generator creates 20 ideas around your niche.   Included with the wizard outline generator is a 7 product creation video set (30 minutes total).  Rick shows you how create a product (actually a package) using the wizard outline generator as your base.  He normally sells it for $100 but I know of a wso of his where you can get the generator as well a couple of other products for $10.  If you want to know more send me a pm.

My idea of a good marketing article is for your article to be reader-friendly and you should right it as if you are just talking to someone casually. For me, the key for an article to be on the 1st page of the search engine is the right way of using keyword and keyword density. This I think is very important for a marketing article.

I personally hate articles which are written full of fluff. But I sometimes caught myself writing creatively haha. Unique article writing could be hard too. Now I understand why outsourcing seems to be the rage these days. I have this rule: 30 mins research + 30 minutes writing.
