Looking for feedback on my landing page without signup just posted.

I would like to get some genuine feedback from anyone willing to stop by and just take a look and give me your impression on my landing page. This is the first time I have used this method to start a site so your feedback would be so appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and your honest impression.

Congratulations on 'getting on with it'

You will need a few opinions to get a more accurate picture of your landing page.

My take is that it is too loud. A little overpowering perhaps.

Also you need to give some thought of where your sign up form should go.
Ideally this should be over the fold.

I would like to read other members opinions as well.

Personally I love it!

It stands out (apart from the actual countdown numbers which could do with being thicker and more visible) and is an excellent precursor to the actual launch.

I love the background - good use of visible imagery.

May I suggest that each week you expand on what the members will get which will keep readers coming back until you get the opt in box sorted.

Yes, it is loud and brash but you need to create impact to show people that it's something new.

Although I agree with Jim that your site is a bit loud, I'm with Dom, I really like your site. 

And I'll through in a couple of added thoughts/impressions...

I don't know if it's your intention or not...or if it was my computer or what, but it took a bit of time for the header to load.  I first saw your countdown clock and then slowly (I mean a slowly), the header appeared. (Note: I went back in a couple of minutes later and the page loaded right up without any difficulty.)

I would also consider changing the font color of your "Welcome to your Prelaunch"  (and the rest of the words in the maroon-like color) to maybe a color (red) that is closer to the red in your header. 

I agree with Jim about you giving some thought to where you're going to place your sign up box.

It will be interesting to see how you come along with this.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, these are points well taken and yes I truly believe the optin box should be on or above the fold where it can readily be gotten to. People should not have to go looking for it. I do intend to put a video on the page and I decided the traditional way of putting the optin box and video side by side with the description and points beneath. That is what I had in mind.

What do you think regarding this?

Hi Ex, and welcome aboard.

There is a traditional place in advertising for over-the-top and wild.  No problem there.  Like Karen mentioned, the header loads too slowly.  I almost clicked out before it did.  That would indicate the graphic needs to be resized.

Any image of 100 kb or more will load slowly.  If you want a fast load then it needs to be 20kb or less.

My only other objection is the clutter.  No clear message except that time is running out.

On the up side, the whole theme is quite dynamic and if you could pick the important info out of the busy-ness it could be effective.

From a personal point of view I would think very carefully about having a video on the squeeze page.

1) A fairly large number of people still use dial up to access the Net - if they have to wait for a video to load up then you might lose them. Give them the option to view the video on a separate page or give them just the audio version which takes a lot less time to load up

2) If you do have a video on the page then ensure that it is controllable by the viewer i.e. they can pause, stop, fast forward or rewind it.

3) Some visitors just plain hate videos on sales/squeeze pages and won't hang around to even read the text.

Loads OK on a fast cable modem to Mac Safari. Cool counter. I would question why the need to set it going so early? Perhaps wait 'til close to launch date so it doesn't get "stale".

Need lots of benefits – not features —  to get people to sign  up to the mailing list, otherwise they leave and forget to check back.

As a designer, I like the bold, colorful graphics!

Okay Jim, Valpubs, Karen, Padre and GraphicBass.

I really appreciate the time you took to post and share with me your ideas. I see the validity of all the suggestions given.

However -

Jim you thought my site was a little too loud. If you would be kind enough to expound a little more upon that; so I am not missing the point of your observation. Is it the type of graphics used or the colors used or the need to tone it down to lighter more subtle colors or something not so bright? Regarding the sign up form I am thinking perhaps on the right side above the fold. I would do a popup but someone coming to the site has no idea what I am offering yet and my thoughts on that is don't use popup sign up window. I get a little out of sorts when people try to use the sales probe on me before I know what I am getting. I completely get that one.

Perhaps some one can give me a URL that will help me to depict the meaning of this, not so loud or bold approach. My idea was to grab a persons attention and draw them in, but I guess I am not doing so well there.

valpubs you brought out a good point. I have been without dialup for several years now and I guess it is easy to forget where we have come from. I agree with you upon that

Karen :) if I were going more subtle what would I do to tone it down? You and Padre spoke about the slow loading header and that really goes back to my perception of the dialup thing. I don't know why I didn't check that before I posted it. Ordinarily I compress images as far as I can without taking away from the image integrity and pixelate it. Yes it needs to be compressed to drop the heaviness in load times.

As for the color of the font in the "Welcome to our Pre-launch" funny thing about that I was saying the same thing after I put it up there.

I used to have a dialup provider so that I could optimize my pages for those people that have that kind of access. But I guess I have been so far removed from that I did not think about that. Thank you for bringing that idea up Gary and Valpub.

For the Video I was thinking about using ppt into video with aspects or as Gary said benefits and not features using the video instead of print to get the message across. Video can be compressed too to downsize and give faster loading times. I might need a little help there in understanding the concept of the benefits a little more though. For some reason I will have to think a bit about that one.

As for the launch of this site I was going to wait some more time before actually doing the Pre-launch because I have yet to build the rest of the site so it will be completely ready closer to the launch date. I put some  things together and just was looking to get some feedback because I had not done a site this way before with squeeze page and sales page and so on. I used to make information sites that did not have these elements. Now I am changing with the times I guess you could say.

I actually put that counter up there because I wasn't sure I wanted to use something so large. I was thinking that might be a little to bold size wise.

If there is any other insight to this please feel free to share I truly appreciate the input.

I loaded your site page this morning/just now, actually, and it loaded right up. Now, that may be because I was at your site yesterday and it's still in my cache.  I do use a cable modem, too, which most of the time is pretty fast. Although there will be the occasional glitch.

As far as the color to tone down the red to...I'm not necessarily advocating "toning down the red" because I really like your shade of red for the vertical bars. And the red that goes across the top where you have the words "The Formula To Successfully Launch Your Products Into the 6-Figure Zone!"

I would, though, take the red (or is it a shade of maroon) that's in the other titles or headings on your page (Welcome to our prelaunch, etc.) and try to match those to the red in the border/frame around the outside of whatever that is.

I know understand what you mean about the color. You are right about the cached page loading faster. I will have to compress those images.

I just got for the sake of testing a free dialup connection from Netzero if anyone is interested in using a dialup to test their sites with. It is totally FREE!! No joke.

I need to remember where I came from in terms of whose on line so that I don't limit my exposure to potential customers.

Thank you for the source of a free dial up connection for running test sites.  While that's not necessarily something I would use because I don't design/make sites, I'll definitely keep the information handy and pass it along.
