Published my first Kindle ebook!

Hey Everyone,

I am now a published Kindle author. It was fun.

It's just a short 36-page (32-33 actual content pages) ebooklet on public speaking. I picked a topic with which I'm fairly knowledgeable and experienced. In this case, I focused on overcoming one's fear of public speaking. It's now live on the Kindle....

I've been working on ereader format a lot lately, for my own book and for those of clients. It's very cool and fast to publish.

Be sure to check out http://www.smashwords.com  It's like Kindle on steroids — allows you to format and upload once, then it automatically converts to about different ereader formats and submits to the catalogs of many retailers. About the same royalties. I put my book up there and once it's live, I'll pull it from Kindle so as not to interfere.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I wanted to give you an update on my "fear of speaking" Kindle ebook.

So far, I've not done any real promotions on the ebook, other than putting a link on a couple of my blogs. Have instead focused on sending out some review copies and making some adjustments to the content based on that feedback. Thank you to those of you who have offered to review the ebook. I'm in the process of revising it right now (based on feedback already received) and I will get an updated pdf to you, as soon as I complete that revision.

In the meantime, I've made a grand total of TWO sales. :-)  Nothing to get excited about or anything, but....

Considering that I've yet to do any promotions, I'm okay with the low sales numbers. Once I complete this next revision, I plan to submit some articles to some directories (even though they've been Google slapped), answer a few questions in Yahoo! Answers and some forums (with a link to the ebook), and put out a few YouTube videos promoting the ebook. We'll see what happens then.

I'll keep you posted.

Just an update...

I got my first check from Amazon for my ebook sales. So far, I've made $14.87.  Nothing to write home about or get too excited about, but....that's from just one ebook that I'm running at 99 cents per ebook right now, which means my commission is only 35 percent of that. When you consider the paltry profits I'm getting per sale and that we're only talking about ONE ebook (that's all I have up there right now) and hardly ANY promotion/marketing, this is encouraging.

FAN-TASTIC!

Congratulations on making some sales with your Kindle ebook...and for your first check from Amazon.

While the amount isn't all that large by your statement (at this time), it is $14.87 more than you would have had if you hadn't written your ebook.

And, it shows all your efforts are paying off. Which means there is so much more potential for you.

You've got the right perspective.  This is your first book and will continue to make sales.  Add more books and the small sales build to a nice total . . . continuing for as long as the books are available.
