Rights about PLR contents
« on: June 17, 2009, 05:50:14 AM »
Just need to ask a few question about PLR rights:

1) Can a PLR products that CANNOT BE GIVEN AWAY be added as a web content?
2) Can we use only part of the niche site package (no tearing apart a graphic or so), let's say we use the Header picture only as web content? (For example the Julie Stone Package and the 85 Exclusive Niche Site package)
3) For our Profit Makers site, can I use my own web template/layout?

Thanks!

I'll be happy to answer your questions.

1) Can a PLR products that CANNOT BE GIVEN AWAY be added as a web content?

The answer to that will vary from product to product. It depends on how the product creator structured the license. Usually (not always though :() the license will state whether or not you can use it as web content.

For example, a product license may include:

[YES] Can be used as Web Site/Blog Content.
or
[YES] Can be broken down into articles.
or
[YES] Can be used as web or e-zine content.

If the product license states anything like the above, then you know you are ok.
But if it says:

[NO] Can be given away in any format.

then you know that you cannot use it as content.

Product license is a confusing matter and sometimes it's hard to know what you can & cannot do. There have been many times where I was unsure of a product license, so I emailed the product creator for license clarification. Usually a product creator is happy to help you with that. (and of course, if you have a question about a particular product you can always just ask me and I will contact the product creator)

That will depend on the product as the license for each product will vary. For example, with Julie Stone's packages you cannot do what you are asking because her license says:

[NO] Change the Niche Site Pack to resell in any way ...
[NO] Extract the graphics or deconstruct the Niche Site Pack in any way ...

Absolutely, you can modify the PMC sites however you want.

Hope that helps,
Mark

I have clarified with Julie on this matter and here is her reply:

Hi Alicia,

Thank you for contacting me.

If you are using the Niche Site for your own personal use, that is fine
and if you don't use all the graphics, then that is fine too.  You may
place your own wording on the header and footer graphic if you are using
them for personal use.

However, if you were taking the header and footer out of the Niche Site
and then putting them into something else and then reselling it as a new
product, no, you cannot do that.

I'm sorry if my license is a little unclear so if you have any more
questions or concerns, please give me a shout!

Thank you again for contacting me,

Kind regards,

- Julie

Alicia,

I'm with Jim...thank you for contacting Julie.

And, Mark, thank you, too, for helping to clarify the "rights" thing.  It can be really confusing sometimes so I'm glad to know you're available to answer questions about such things.

Hi Saskmikey   ::P

It's nice to meet you!  I hope we get to see more of you.

To answer your questions...I'm not sure but I would think you'd want to read what the rights are that come with the articles. With some, you might be able to, with others not.

Or, someone else will come in and know exactly.

You can also send a PM to Mark (or a ticket) and ask him that way...in case he doesn't see your post right away.

Karen   :-)
