I am pretty happy with the site now and it is showing on page one of google for it's key phrase.

I have decided NOT to offer it for sale but instead offer to let clients advertise their takeaways on it,
I have given the site 4 pages for

Indian takeaways
Chinese takeaways
Pizza takeaways
and
English takeaways

more could be added later

I was never bothered about a setup fee but I was looking for a monthly income
from the site of around £29.95 per month (about $47.35)

However now I have 4 chances to get a monthly fee from 4 businesses

I am thinking about £15 per month (about $23.72) per takeaway
this is around the cost of one family meal to them!

This would offer me an income of £60 per month (about $94.86).

I will keep up the backlinking until I get to number 1 or 2 on the Google search page,
until then any business that spots the site will be able to contact me via the site
and grab a place there without me contacting them!
I still have till the 26th September to finish what I said I would do,
I think when I get the first one then I think I can say “JOB DONE!”

I do hope some of you members have a go, I would be very happy to help you in anyway I can.

Hi Brian,

An excellent idea, pretty impressive mate. Up here in Glasgow a lot of restaurants have a website, well, the bigger ones anyway, even a carry out shop has a site where you can order. Just a thought, however, a good idea if you get 4 different shops to take you on. As long as they're selling you're earning. Found a typo again...sorry.

One thing that I haven't seen brought up yet is a mobile version of your site.

People looking for restaurants and/or takeaways are not always at home on a desktop or tablet.

Mobile version gives them the opportunity to call ahead on their phone from wherever they are.

Just a thought . . .

I can easily add a mobile version, I have a plug-in somewhere that does just that (think I got it from the gold members area) It sure is simple to add one so easy in fact that I could offer any one of the 4 adverisers a free mobile site for their own websites if they have one.

If I get this site to Number 1, I don't think the advertisers will be too bothered about what the website looks like or what add ons it has....they will just want to be the advertiser for that Indian,Chinese,Pizza or English page because I am only allowing one per page, paying £15 a month should be well worth it to keep their competitors from advertising on it.

Well today I seem to have a set back!

The site started to show in the number 5 spot on Google and last night when I checked it had moved up to number 3.

This morning it is no where to be found?

I am sure it will come back, but would love to know what caused this to happen.
The only changes I did last night was to finish the site by adding 4 new pages,
I have not been spamming the site and only added about 4 backlinks.

This morning I installed and updated the XML map maybe this will help,
I can only wait now and see if it pops up again.

Has any one else seen this happen on their sites?

That's pretty awesome Brian!

Surely it will bounce around awhile until it begins to reach some equilibrium. Just keep at it, adding fresh content each day if that's relevant.

Also, keep in mind that Google will give you GeoLocal results as well. In your case that certainly would be appropriate.

Try not to check things too often lest it make you a nervous wreck

About every week or so, check your stats. See where your traffic is coming from and especially watch the latest visitors list. That will give you the best information as to what brought your visitors to your site. You're likely to see some crawling activity from the search engine bots. That's a good sign so make sure you're rolling out the red carpet for them in your robots.txt file and do-follow meta tag on each page.

One thing I noticed Brian is that your pages have no title. That makes a HUGE difference in getting your site indexed.

Make sure that your target keyword phrase comes "first" in the title. (header

<title></title> tags.

Description looks good.

Takeaways in Hartlepool should be within an h1 tag. As you have it now, the page title and subtitle are both h2. Leave the subtitle as is and just change the tags on the main title of the page. Be sure to go through the entire site and do the same with the other page titles.

I have been using the Vibe SEO plugin and according to that all is OK I have been told that the post/page name acts as a H1

I do trust Vibe as it has got one of my other website to Number 1

I did a quick search and found a Restaurant Menu plugin. That might be a nice extra to offer your clients: let them post their menu on your site. It would certainly add to your page count once you get some advertisers!

Strange stuff happening!

early this morning the sites home page was on page one position number four
now that is gone and instead one of the sites pages is on page one position six!

What is all this yo yo thing about?

Or maybe it is too early and I need a good week for it to settle down?
