Hi everyone,

I have registered for 2 giveaway events and am following Tamara's excellent post on this topic
http://resell-rights-weekly.com/forum/main/how-to-set-up-your-product-for-giveaway-event-success/

I hope you folks understand that being a newbie lots of obvious things/processes also seems to be a problem and require some help or hand-holding.

1. I don't have my own product so ... would be using RRW's PLR product to be offered. Now, I have chosen a product "Blogging Bullseye" from July 2010 "PLR/RR Vault".
This is a PLR product so can make changes and also have my name to it. However the distribution rights say
NO : May claim complete product copyrights (does not include graphics)
NO : May claim full copyrights to graphics as is (including cover, sales page and banner ads) "unless changed"
- What does this mean ?

2. I know how to make changes to the word document and convert into a PDF, but
- do I need to change the ebook cover ?
- if yes, how to make changes to the ebook cover ?

3. Since the theme of the ebook cover and squeeze page is same, changing the ebook cover would also mean changing the squeeze page
- do I need to change the squeeze page ?
- if yes, how to make changes to the squeeze page ?

4. I would also like to make use of a RWW product for an (a) "OTO" on the "Thank You" Page & (b) "upsell" on the "Confirmation" Page
- How can I setup the OTO on the "Thank You" Page & similarly upsell on the "Confirmation" Page ?
- I would like to match the themes of the OTO & upsell on "Thank You" & "Confirmation" pages to the MAIN Squeeze page - again I have no idea how to do it ?

Sorry for so many basic questions ... some may seem to be dumb but I'd rather ask and look dumb rather than risking not knowing it. :-) And of-course there might be a some more on the way!

Thanks is advance for all the help.

Cheers!
Abizer

Hi Abizer,

I'll be happy to answer your questions.

The Blogging Bullseye license states that "May Be Given Away" so you will be ok to use this in the giveaway event.  "NO : May claim complete product copyrights" and "NO : May claim full copyrights to graphics as is" basically means that you can't copyright this product. You can sell it, you can sell resell rights to it, you can even give it away - you just can't copyright the product or the graphics.

2. I know how to make changes to the word document and convert into a PDF, but
- do I need to change the ebook cover ?
- if yes, how to make changes to the ebook cover ?

No, you don't have to. That's purely optional. If you decide to modify the ecover then I recommend either Photoshop or GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/).

3. Since the theme of the ebook cover and squeeze page is same, changing the ebook cover would also mean changing the squeeze page
- do I need to change the squeeze page ?
- if yes, how to make changes to the squeeze page ?

No, you don't have to - it's optional. If you choose to edit the squeeze page then you can do so using a WYSIWYG web page editor like KompoZer (http://kompozer.net/). Just open that index file with Kompozer, make your modifications, save it, and upload it to your host.

If you look in the product folder you will see this file "\Blogging Bullseye\website-squeeze\index.html" You can use that page as your template.  Make the modifications that you want using Kompozer, then save the file and upload it. I took the index page and removed the salescopy for the squeezepage - I'll paste it below for you to use.

Hi Mark

Thanks for your response, appreciate it.

1. Kool - I can do anything except copyright the product and graphics. Nice!

2. & 3. Will leave it as is .. reason being, I need to get started with giveaways as a contributor, and then as I move forward I can improvise. As it is said in IM, "don't have to get it perfect, get it going"

In this case having an offer on the confirmation page works like an OTO, but how could I set up a proper OTO offer on an OTO page ?

4. Lets see if I have understood this right - the code that you pasted becomes the template that I can use for setting up an "OTO" on "Confirmation" page and an "upsell" on the "Thank You" page - right ? So the squeeze page remains the same as it comes in the package.

Can the PLR Blogging Bullseye ebook, offered as is, in the giveaway events be rejected ? Assuming that no one else is contributing the same ebook as is ?

Thanks for pasting the code, very helpful. There might be few other questions on licenses for other products as I am not aware of the license related things (though I am reading and learning  ;)) - so please bear with me. Thx.

Cheers!

If you really want it to be one-time, you'll need to add some code to the mix.

Probably the easiest way I can think of for doing that is to use the Wordpress OTO plugin that was recently added to the Gold downloads (this month or last). That would involve installing wordpress, but many hosting companies have Fantastico or something similar to make wordpress installation simple.

There are also a number of wordpress saleletter page templates and/or themes in the members area that could simplify design issues. If you were a little technical I'd suggest taking the template code Mark made from the squeeze page and adding the_loop to make it a wordpress page template. (If you want help with that PM me. I do custom wordpress themes as a paying gig.)

You will need to modify the squeeze page code enough to add your autoresponder code, but otherwise you could cgoose to leave it as is.

Anything is possible. It totally depends on the giveaway host and how much they are policing the submissions (and how much/how little they care).

Giveaways are a good way to build a list.
Those and offering bonuses are the source of most of my mailing list.

Good luck!

Kool, I'll surely try this plugin (but probably later :) after my first giveway)

Does this mean that you develop custom themes ? Just wondering how and where would the custom theme help .. or what would it simplify ? Apologies if its a technically challenged question from a technically challenged dude!

Thanks for offering your help ...

Will look into these, are any [Wordpress sales letter themes] your favourites ?
I rolled my own page template from the classic paper background images. One example is the difference between my main NLP Training and Business Development site and the squeeze/sales pages for my Goal Setting Guide.
The main site is currently a barely customized version of Atahualpa, soon to be moving to Genesis. The squeeze/sales pages are all using my custom page template.

Yes, I develop custom themes. I was considering making a special offer to this community, so watch for that if you're interested.

Custom themes help by differentiating you from those who use the widely available themes with no modifications. They allow you to brand your site and add specific functionality to your wordpress blog. In some cases, they create sites that utilize the ease of wordpress for adding and maintaining content while not looking like a blog at all.

In addition to using all of the ~WYSIWYG features of wordpress, you get to leverage all the plugins (for SEO, RSS, displaying across multiple platforms, automatic linking of keywords, etc). The biggest ease of use feature is that you just concentrate on getting the content into the system and all the page layout, templates, sidebars, etc are automagically taken care of for you. For instance, creating a page theme from the above HTML shell would allow you to quickly add more squeeze pages, sales pages, OTOs, and pre-sales pages all with the same look and feel and without the concern of accidentally breaking the template code while entering your content. It also allows all those pages you just created to have their layout updated by modifying the page template file/s in one place and having all the pages updated with a consistent look.

Let me know when you're ready for a custom theme! ;)

Yeah, really liked the squeeze/sales pages - very kool.

I will look out for this ... but at the moment not really thinking of a custom theme due to time contraint.

Yes, I agree and I definitely look forward to come back to you for custom themes starting with my personal blog. Say if I have a few niche sites (I will be having atleast 5 in the next 2-4 months) can I have the same BASIC theme which identifies the uniqueness of my websites / blogs ?

Again if I understand it right - with a custom theme I can have a page template and use the same template for creating various pages with the similar theme .. okie this I understand .. does this mean that a custom theme could enable me to make changes in my template and the pages that have ALREADY been built using this template will automatically get updated with these NEW changes to the template ? That would be fabulous!

I'll come your way soon .. in the mean time can you PM me about average estimates for doing so or connect on my skype account so that I understand further what all can be done. Appreciate your help.

Cheers!

That is certainly a possibility. I'd start with the main blog and make whatever variations for each other site as they are built.
If you haven't already, you may want to look around for sites that first motivate you to buy and, as a far distant second, for which you like the look and feel.

Yes, by making changes to the page template all the pages using that template are updated at once, including all the pages already created with that template. It is also straight forward to change pages' templates en mass to update multiple pages to a new template w/o affecting other pages.

Watch for a PM tonight.

PM sent.

And to share with the rest of the gang too:
Here's a sample of a custom page theme for wordpress using the above html:

    http://mercs.net/WP-BB

Just unzip it into your theme directory and
choose the "Blogging Bullseye Page Template" as the template
when you create a new page.
(See http://screencast.com/t/N2M0ZDJhODQt for a hint.)

Hey folks

I have made changes to one of RWW products. (product is Blogging Bullseye in PLR/RR Vault for July 2010)

I have attached license that I am giving with the changed PLR product with giveaway rights.

Please can some of you folks review the license and let me know if I am violating any rules. (Original product is Blogging Bullseye in PLR/RR Vault for July 2010)

Almost there to upload the product to the giveaway ... though I have not managed to get the OTO on the "Thank You" page and the Upsell on the "Confirmation" page but hey lets get started first  :-)

Cheers!
