Is Article Marketing That Important?
« on: August 16, 2008, 11:14:57 PM »
Hi forum members

I have put together this post to give a little background to Article Marketing. Enjoy.

Is article marketing that important? You can make your own mind up after reading this post. It's a form of advertizing whereby a business concern hires a writer or does it themselves to compose brief articles in the hopes that this will further their business. These articles are created for distribution and publishing which means this can looked at by just about anybody both in the print and online form.

Therefore individuals will know who wrote the article, at the end of the article there is commonly a bio box and byline which shows the references and contact person of the one who wrote it. If the reader liked the article so much, they can get in touch with the author, which, translates to increased sales.

Article Marketing has been around for quite long time. Some say this was first used when volume print became accessible. In the print form, this type of advertising was employed by entrepreneurs as a way of acquiring free space. This is given to a newspaper free of charge in exchange for the business’ contact information with the article.  Virtually all newspaper publishers are willing to accept this sort of agreement because their budget was very modest in compensating writers for their work.

The setup is not that much different for online article marketing because writers may put up their work in different websites in addition to putting it in their own. Articles that are placed elsewhere are known as an article directory.

Articles posted in such sites are free because the directory owner places adverts on the site and collects revenue from it. As more website traffic is achieved, both the directory owner and the author acquire something from it.

Some internet sites present the writer the alternative of choosing the kind of advertising to be displayed on the webpage. If you do not like the choices, you can always go for the webpage with no advertisements.

There are differences though between printed and online article marketing. For one, it is a great deal quicker to look for a certain article online because keywords are often used for search engine optimization (SEO). This means if you are looking for a certain topic, you will be able to see what you are searching for in just a matter of seconds.

If you think that the articles posted can only be seen in sites such as www.ezinearticles.com or www.about.com, think again because some have now used social networks to get their content across. Examples of web sites include Facebook, MySpace and Friendster. This strategy is known as Web 2.0 generation.

Several people state that the rise in the number of individuals who employ article marketing has a negative effect because it has brought down the quality in the articles written. To keep this from happening, you have to post articles that are pertinent and educational.

Article marketing is just one way of promoting a service or product. If you do not have sufficient money to market it using other means, this will be a great way to get started. In posting elsewhere or in your own website, the most important thing to do is to use relevant keywords so it will be easy for visitors to see your website.

For that, you have to think what words will a individual likely type to see your site. If you are able to figure that out, it won’t be long before you will get plenty of traffic which translates to extra sales to your business.

Best

Jim

Jim,

That was a great post. I have currently began really focusing my efforts on article writing. It is a good form of advertising. In order to write, there were quite a few barriers I had to overcome, but after reading information on how to write articles, how to set them up and basically find your own formula,it has been great. It use to be quite a chore, but once you began making the effort to write at least 2-3 times a week it's became quite easy. So, yes you can have success in article writing and it can bring quite a boost to your website traffic.

Thanks for the great post.

Great article and information, Jim. Thank you for your insight.

And to reiterate the title of this thread, article marketing really is that important.

In fact, it's important that we all use as many avenues as we can find to get ourselves noticed.

Oh, and Mark, thank you again, for making this Forum available...and for sharing so generously.

I have met a lot of recommendations to make site or blog as much interactive as possible. Many sites use audio or video today. But my strong opinion that in spite of everything, the Article Marketing is very important.

Despite websites that use all sorts of bells and whistles to attract web surfers, the bottom line is, a well written article will keep people interested and keep them coming back.  Content really is king.

I've seen a lot of low quality articles in my time, and I think that web 2.0 technology is helping that along, but those of us who are using it that produce high quality articles benefit the same way they do.

Thank you very much for the information! Your post is absolutely great! Content is the king! But please do not neglect audio and video. It is the dull picture when there are only articles on the site.
