HEADS UP: Footer Link Leads to Escort Blog
« on: February 07, 2019, 02:58:34 PM »
Just a little heads up (well actually a big one come to think of it).

On the footer links of this forum there is a link to "DzinerStudio Theme", the makers of the theme for this forum.  And it appears they have gone out of business sometime in 2017 and let their domain expire.

PROBLEM IS
:  The new owner of the domain name is now hosting a scammy/spammy blog that has post, links and pictures that promote a pimping site where you can "rent" girls in Las Vegas.   :-[   Might want to do something about that.

And come to think of it, y'all might want to look into changing your theme.  If the theme is no longer sold and supported, that means security updates are no longer available either.  Something to think about...in a BIG way.

Thanks for the heads up.  I'll send Mark a message about it.

Checking on archive.org the site was bought and converted in Nov 2017.   To be honest I have never clicked on the link in the footer.  There's a difference between the forum software and the theme.  Yes there may be an issue when a theme is not maintained but its more important to make sure the forum software is updated.  I'll remind Mark.

Thanks for getting on this quickly.

Themes and plugins (no matter if it's wordpress or other platforms) are equally as important as they can contain security holes/backdoors even if the software is up-to-date.

Ask me how I know.   :-[  Been down that road too many times hanging on to outdated themes and plugins.

But I digress
