Geez Mike

A HEART ATTACK!
  :o

Thank somebody (you're choice) that you're here to tell about it.

That's some serious Sh-t!

So what, if anything, are you going to change? Has this changed the way you look at things, or what you value, or your priorities?

This must be like getting a chance to do it all over again but now you have the benefit of hindsight.

Sorry if I'm prying, but maybe you have some insights to share, if so, I would love to hear them.

Glad you're alive and wish you a speedy recovery,

Stew

Thanks Stew but I may not be the best person to discuss the items you asked about. I have a VERY different mindset about this topic and me/my family specifically.

You see, IMHO, my issue(s) are more genetic than lifestyle. Almost every male on my Dad's side of the family had heart problems and most passed from it before they were in their 40's.

I am by no means perfect in how I live ... I prefer to be happy than diligent. However, I do take pretty good care of myself and have broken the records of my family history many times over. I REALLY feel that it's not "IF" I have heart troubles ... it's "WHEN". I firmly believe that the measures I have taken got me this far but, again, the issue was inevitable.

I am shifting a few things to try lowering my cholesterol which BTW is high with the bad and low with the good but not much ... less than 10% in each direction. I do smoke but as I told the med staff ... the list of things I don't do any more is a LOT longer than those I still do.  ;D Still I have cut that in half since getting out of the hospital.

I still apply The Secret ... I don't remember if you mentioned that you have seen the DVD. Part of it discusses health and highlights a gal who was diagnosed with cancer but beat it with no radiation by using The Secret.

Since getting it, with regard to feeling what you want, I practice it. I am amazed at how much faith I have in it and feel it will do more good for me than making myself miserable with lifestyle changes.

I realize this sounds cavalier but it's just the way I feel about it. I'm just a cantankerous old fart!!!  ;)

Sunday night I had a heart attack. On the way to the ER I (of course) was flooded with thoughts of impending doom. If you check the Heart Assoc's website this is actually one of the symptoms.

Wow! Mike, I am sorry to hear that! Are you ok now?

Thanks for your concern Mark ... actually I'm fine. Of course I have to take it easy for a few more days but all in all I haven't felt this good in quite a while.

I really wish there were different terms for what happened to me because we all have the mental picture of a HA victim grabbing their chest and doing a face plant. It really wasn't that way. I have educated myself over the years and caught it before it was that serious.

There was no 911 call and I was more than ready to leave the hospital a few hours after getting the stent put in. BTW, that procedure was fascinating ... other than a few minutes I was awake through the whole thing and got to watch them probing my heart looking for the blockage and then installing the stent.

I'm sure some will find my attitude a bit odd but it's just me!!! I never claimed I walked to the beat of the typical drummer. LOLOLOLOL

I also feel that The Secret way of thinking helped considerably. Maintaining a positive outlook made the experience more of an adventure than an adverse situation. Sadly, most of the medical staff was quite the opposite. Had I let their way of thinking be a driving force I might still be in the hospital. I was really amazed how much negativity was projected. My main cardiologist and one RN were the only ones that seemed to understand my mindset and the reality of genetics with regard to my specific situation.

You know there is only to so much of an extreme any rational person can take this positive thinking. Anyone in their right mind who is now putting a positive spin on this new bailout bill just does not have the education to see the horror of it. Now that is just an example, but I see plenty of people trying to take bad ideas and put a positive spin to them in their own minds and the minds of others. we call that a con man where i come from and they are not welcome. If its a rose, people will notice it, you don't have to upsell it. If its a pile of cow manure, then the proof is in the smell. Sure you might convince yourself and maybe a few others than its a rose, but when they give it to a loved one, well lets just say I would not want to be them.
Do you get what I am saying here?

Hi Taki,
Being fairly new at this I'm not sure I have the proper response but I do feel there must be a bit of "being realistic" in the mix. In The Secret they do mention that point. I'm not really referring to the Bailout Bill specifically nor making a comment on my feelings about it ... just passing on a general comment as I understand it from The Secret.

Many thanks! There are great posts!!! But I do not understand why there are so much hubbub about not so important things! There are so many interesting things in the world!
