All - just wanted to circle back and report the move went well. Thanks! There will be some kind of "tail" because we had to break a lease to get into this really ideal situation.

The former apartment people are looking to get a 5K payout. I, basically, told them to piss off and listed my own grievances about them. Might as well try to squeeze some blood out of a rock. I told them I'd be happy to pay if I was willing to give up food. That ain't happening. So the battle rages on.

This new and long term living arrangement is simply ideal (assuming we mean to stay in Colorado for a bit), both in lifestyle and economics. So a great improvement in many, many ways.

The old place looked like and felt like a prison; most certainly so at night what with all the outdoor extremely bright security lighting and a straight away look from our windows right to the buildings close to us. Yuuuukkkk.

The new digs - owned and run by the local county government -- have us looking out at night at nothing. Just a large dog walk park a mile out with a green zone in between with farmland around all that. Peaceful. Serene. Soooo quiet all the time. Watching the sun set behind the Rocky Mountains from our 3rd floor balcony (top floor) alone makes all the effort to get here worthwhile.

If we want, we can partake of a hot, catered lunch on floor one each day (M-F) as part of the package. No extra charge. Simply charming and cozy. Have been known to shuffle down to lunch in mucho casual dress and bedroom slippers. Can't wait to buy a decent set of pajamas to wow the lunch bunch with my casual and suave "brunch-lunch" sartorial splendor.

Probably been 10 years or so since I've been so happy with a living spot. Best news of all - I can afford it!

Cheers and may all of us have the opportunity to get well suited...each to his or her definition. - MM

Hi MM

That is great news.
A huge improvement in lifestyle.

Just hope I don't see you on Judge Judy in a few years time.  ;)   :toothy12: :toothy12:

Best wishes for the future.

John - would be great to have you and a few others here. I forgot to mention it's an old folks home - senior living. So you need to be old. You have to have a relatively modest income and asset stash, and pass a rigid criminal background check along with credit check.

I don't know how I got it. Funny thing is...once you're in, you can make a stinking lot of greenbacks with no penalty or worry.

This building - 3 floors tall and about 300 apartments wide (aisle separating the North and South sides of the apartments.) As I said the property was conceived, designed and constructed by the county government - Boulder County - Department of Housing and Human Services. The lunches are funded through the City of Lafayette, CO taking advantage of a grant created when the Federal Government passed the "Older Americans Act."

I searched on the internet (where else) to find all  about it and sign up for a waiting list. That's it.-MM

WoW MM sounds like it a nice place to be in. I kind of like where I am at but the tiles floors are hard on you head when you fall. I know how it is trying to get moved and all the other stuff that can go it it. But it sound like you lucked out and I am happy for you.

Thanks, Bill. I understand what you are saying. My poor wife has "drop attacks" (kind of a seizure disorder) which render her unconscious while she is still standing up. She's probably hit the deck at least 40-50 times during our marriage. Through God's grace and good luck, she has seldom sustained any severe injuries.

The floors here are fake wood, so I'm pretty sure it would hurt a bunch to fall on it. Thank goodness it's been a while since she's had an attack...seems to come in clusters.

Please try to stay upright. My fall in March ended up with a double fracture high on my right humorous bone. Just last week, I tripped over a small stool in the wrong place in the local library. Fortunately, I didn't fall all the way, just aggravated my arm, back, and neck again. Well, that's what pain pills are for!

Stay well, Bill. Love having you in here. - MM
