Hey Guys,

Nothing important, just curious ... anybody had a chance to watch any of the Sochi Winter Olympics?

As a Vancouverite, I have to admit I have been watching avidly.  When we had the Winter Olympics here last time, it was amazing to watch our city come together, really a wonderful experience! This time, I watched with admiration when the Canadian coach ran out and gave the Russian skier his extra ski, letting him complete the course, and when Calgary speed skater Gilmore Junio took one for the team, (by quitting for a better skater), who won silver after not qualifying, well that was pretty wonderful!  I tell my kids,  medals are great, but  these acts of kindness and self sacrifice are the gold medals of life!

It's the 'new' sports that I love. Ones like:

Face-planting
Jumping out of skis halfway through a qualifying run
Bowling with extra housework (curling)
Sitting down at high speed
Running for 10km while wearing 2 long boards on your feet

Kia ora All,

No way to comment on this one, as I do not watch television at all!

I would like to say congratulations to snginc on the unexpected commission cheque.  I am sure it was well deserved, and that you worked to earn it.  Best wishes for more to come.

My personal take....most sports are more graceful and/or exciting when performed on ice.

What do ya think?

Jim

Hi Jim,

Yes, I think the figure skaters are very graceful.   Now me on the other hand, well lets just say that anything I do on ice will not be graceful!
