How To Make A Fortune From Someone Else's Product Launch
Without Being An Affiliate Or Promoting Their Offer

I'm an observer.  I watch marketers and how they work.
I look at how people respond to marketing.  And I've
discovered something interesting over the years that I
want to share with you as it relates to building your
internet business.

Hot topics and trends come along regularly.  There's always
a new "in" thing making an appearance on the radar screen.
And whenever there's a new rage, there will be marketers
who jump on the bandwagon.

That can pay off big for YOU if you're smart.

Let me explain.

What happens when a new trend or technique or tool surfaces?

    *** People begin to talk about it.***

Marketers begin convincing people why they need it.
Consumers tell their stories.  Discussions take place.  Hype
builds.  Sometimes controversy breaks out.  An education
process unfolds.

Through it all ... DEMAND increases.

Now, here's where you come along.

You piggyback on the popularity of the latest big hit by
creating a small report on the topic.  You get the benefit of
other marketers creating hungry leads for your offer without
them even knowing it.

Let me give you an example -

EXAMPLE

When John Reese released Traffic Secrets it was a huge success.
He sold over a million dollars worth of product in one twenty-four
hour period. However, at a $997.00 asking price, it was out of reach
for many consumers.

But...

What if YOU had decided to write a 15 page small report entitled,
"Free Traffic Secrets" and offered it for $20 ... do you think
you would have had any takers?  Of course!

Why?  Because every marketer on the planet was talking about
the need for web site traffic so they could build interest in
John's course. They were creating hungry leads for your offer
without them even knowing it.

All of these marketers expertly and persuasively pointed out
the necessity, benefits and usages of getting web site traffic.
They, in essence, would have created demand for the TOPIC of your
small report.

1. Many of those that couldn't afford John's high-ticket product
   would likely buy your small report because the end result of
   getting site traffic was something they had been told repeatedly
   they needed!

2. Many of those who could afford John's high-ticket product would
   also likely buy your small report because of the same reason AND
   they would like to know what you might offer differently than John.

Do you see how powerful this is?

Even as I type this lesson out, I have received DOZENS of emails
today announcing a new co-registration product that everyone's talking
about.

I could spend a few hours this evening writing a small report on
the same topic and sell it like crazy tomorrow because of everything
that's being said about the subject today.

So, what's the lesson for you to learn here -

     **The surest way to create a hot-selling small report is to
       pick a topic related to that which everyone is talking about.***

You know, it doesn't matter what "market" you're in, chances are you see
the same kinds of outbreaks that I see in "internet marketing" circles ...

* Major product launches
* New technologies and tools
* Fresh research
* Innovative features and improvements
* Ground-breaking news
* Hot topics of discussion
* Best-selling books
* Interest-grabbing magazine articles
* Emerging trends

The list could go on and on, right?

It shouldn't come as a big surprise that you need to monitor what's going
on around you, specifically looking for the latest topic everyone's talking
about.

You can do this by regularly browsing 4 trend and event "hot spots"...

1. Active Forums. Find at least one ACTIVE forum related to your market and
regularly visit it to look for ideas. Keyword here is "active". The ideal
forum will have a number of participants who regularly post messages.

2. News Feeds. You can begin with Google.com's news center at http://news.google.com.
You should also look for a news feed or site that is specific to your field
of interest. For example: I regularly visit http://ChristianHeadlines.com to
stay on top of events related to some of my Christian sites.

3. Article Directories. Spend a few minutes at your favorite article directory,
focusing specifically on the NEWEST articles posted and the TOP RECENT articles
read. I regularly check http://goarticles.com.

4. Competitor's Lists. You'll also want to "spy" on what your competition is doing
by joining their lists. When a major competitor begins highlighting certain
topics in their content (I.E. "articles") and / or releases or promotes a specific
product, it's a good indication that you should pay attention.

All of these things allow you to capitalize on the current buzz!

Create small reports based on these buzz-worthy topics.

Okay, Jimmy's idea here of capitalizing on other people's product launch comes to mind now, given the HUGE popularity over Frank Kern's "Mass Control 2.0." So...

Ideas?

How could we capitalize on that?

The way I see it...it won't hurt for us to brainstorm together here. Either we all get a few good ideas to run with individually (and perhaps make a few $$$ each -- money we didn't have already) OR (perhaps) we form a couple JV arrangements out of this thread.

So...let's throw out some ideas.

I'm up for this.

What we need to know is what Mass Control 2 is all about (specifically) so we can produce our simple report based on his premis.

Anyone know?

What Mass Control is

Yeah, we could certainly use someone who has bought the product or who knows someone who bought the product. That would definitely help.

As far as I can tell, the concept behind MC is relationship marketing based on Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) principles. That's the understanding I'm getting, though I'm sure that just scratches the surface.

Here are some reviews (though they aren't impartial reviews)....

And from the man himself (a video)....

Hi Brian

Thanks for that information.

I will check out the information in the links later today. Observe what all the fuss is about.

It is truly remarkable how, when you are 'mindful' of some thing, you begin to see that thing everywhere you look!

I have just started to watch a series of videos on Youtube about using NLP in sales copy. A chap called Harlan Kilstein (Dr.) has 60-odd videos on Youtube and I'm about halfway through.
He's using NLP language such as 'future pacing' and 'modalities and sub-modalities'; it's a little alien but I'm sure I'll get some understanding quick enough. (On UTube Kilstein is known as 'overnightcopy')

Then along comes Brian and throws down the gauntlet to piggy back on one of the 'Guru-di-guru' launches of the Spring. I have to admit to a frisson of fear slithering down the spine at the sheer effrontery of our impending actions..but, by heck, I'm going to enjoy the ride!
Now, off to read as much as possible about MC

Mass Control 2.0 is one powerful mother of a tool.
I loved his sales pitch

First
He opens the box that MC2.0 comes in and shows you exactly what you get (a follow on from Frank's very simple marketing strategy of: 1) Tell them what they are going to get 2) Give them what they came to get 3) Tell them what they got)
Second
He showed the 1st envelope - a big white manilla labelled on the outside in red capitals "READ THIS FIRST". This envelope contained a dvd on 'mindset'
2nd envelope, again labelled, in red "CONFIDENTIAL", containing a course that said you could make $2000 in 4 days . i.e. recuperate the cost of the course within a week
Then he came to the 1st of 2 large boxes
Box 1
Contains the MC2.0 materials
Essentially a 30 day course using dvds and manuals and cds but broken up into 4 sections to be done weekly.
The cds are to be played at the end of each week and they basically wrap up what you just did in the week and answer the FAQs that seem to pop up.

Week 1:
In this series Frank explains the 4 main pillars of MC:
1) Interest & Desire
2) Fun & Trust
3) Proof & Samples
4) Mass Control Money Makers (appear to be widgets/stuff that people download and use..thus getting your name out there)
This is all about grabbing the market's attention and getting them to know you are there and that they should follow what you are doing.

Week 2:
This is the week where you create rapport with all those people who have noticed you from week 1
You are not being manipulative, you just tell the truth and give value thus creating a sense of community between you and your prospective buyers.

Week 3:
The main thrust of this week is Frank's "Instant Empathy Exercise" which, he claims, allows you to get into the customers' heads and pull out their hopes and desires and fears and so you can start talking to them on their level. This implies that you know exactly what they are going through and you have the answer to their 'pain'. This creates a frenzy of 'fans' that can't wait to be sold to (the pool of hungry fish scenario)

Week 4:
Not spectacularly explained by Frank , but then I'm not surprised but it seems to revolve around overdelivery to your buyers by implementing 2 tools: "Stacking The Cool" and "Death Grip". This would seem to mean that Frank doesn't forget you once you have purchased but still keeps you in the loop with more great free content and stuff until he has produced another product that he will launch at you.

Box 2
This contained all the marketing materials that Frank used to promote: Serializer (a secret seminar). Pipeline Profits, Stompernet and one other program that I can't remember. All of these programs produced $23.8 million dollars and this box contains all the video transcripts, emails and other marketing materials that Frank used to create the buzz around the programs.

Right, that was a brief overview of what you would get if you bought MC2.0

Does it help us with our small report?

A perfect synopsis of what MC offers. You beat me to this. I re-read a lot of the reviews last night and watched Frank's MC video (the one you referenced). I've probably watched it three times now. And...was going to do a synopsis myself, but you beat me to it.  :-) Which is great. Less typing for me.  :::tu

Anyway, now comes the hard part. We have to get CLOSE ENOUGH to Frank's product and branding in order to get noticed and take advantage of the ride, while at the same time NOT making Frank angry with us or violating any ethical standards. Oh, and....we have to be quick about it. Because the longer we wait, the further we get from the launch and hype surrounding MC.

Title & Concept Idea
« Reply #10 on: February 18, 2009, 03:36:00 PM »
Okay...to kick off the brainstorming....

Our goal is to put together a low-cost alternative to Frank Kern's Mass Control. In the movie-making industry, there are companies that make huge amounts of money doing this. One company that does this is Asylum. They make what are called "mockbusters" -- low budget movies designed to capitalize on blockbuster releases. So, when Hollywood gave us "Transformers," Asylum gave us "Transmorphers." When Hollywood made "Pirates of the Caribbean," Asylum came out with "Pirates of Treasure Island." "The Day the Earth Stood Still" was followed by Asylum's "The Day the Earth Stopped." Asylum's other movies include "The Da Vinci Treasure," "Sunday School Musical," and "Snakes on a Train." Get the idea?  :-)

Okay...this is on my mind here, and I thought of putting out a product called "Mass CONFUSION." A great compliment to "Mass Control," methinks. With "Mass Confusion," you learn how to get bogged down with analysis paralysis, how to spread yourself out super-thin, and how to get your customers to buy from the OTHER guy.

What do you say?

Dom and Brian and Jim,

Thank you all for going into such detail on this.

I like your "Mass Confusion" concept, Brian.

Thanks, Karen. But I've got more.  ;D

"Mass Chaos"
"Mass Insanity"

or....

"No Control"

I consider myself fully qualified to make a product around any of those above themes.

Guys and Gals

Some tremendous posts above.

Much to think about.

Brian, on the 3 review sites you mention, only one has a author name assigned.

Did Frank write the other 2?

Best
