Referral Marketing - A Beginner's Review
« on: August 01, 2014, 05:34:21 AM »
As some of you might know, I'm actually a bit of a 'virgin' to actually making money online so I've spent a few hours just hunting the net for 'business opportunities' because I thought to myself that one of the biggest, unanswered questions that is hanging around is:
Is It Still Possible To Make Money Online Without Spending A Dime (Except, Perhaps, For Internet Access)
So I did a small amount of research through Google and I came across a lot of information (as you might think) and a few of these 'opportunities' related to somehting called 'Referral Marketing'

Now, usually, I stay away from these types of websites as I used t believe that they were extremely spammy, however, I think I'm beginning to sing a different tune now.

Basically referral marketing seems to be:
1. You sign up with a company that pays you a set figure to refer other people to sign up.
2. You get a unique URL for yourself
3. You drive traffic to that URL
4. You get a set payment if someone signs up

To be honest - to me - it still sounds a little too easy - anyways, I went ahead and signed up with this company to see what is what.

What you have to do is to create an account with the 1st company and this requires you to choose an offer in order to obtain a 'credit'. (I signed up for an offer that didn't cost me any money - just some time). Tis allowed me go to step 2

Step 2 required me to join another 'offer' company that would pay me another set amount for referrals - again, I chose an offer that didn' cost me any money. Thus I could move onto Step 3

Step 3 was my 'back office' where I could: view videos on: Facebook training, Craigslist, syndication ideas, Youtube promotions etc. etc. I could also join a closed Facebook group, have access to FAQ etc. etc.

Does It Work?
To be honest - I've no idea, I've only been a member for 24 hours but, with ideas on how to promote websites freely available here on RRW and the draw of getting $30 per signup (maximum) direct into my Paypal account it's surely worth a look.

Now, I realize that this is perhaps not the best way to 'make money online' and I may not have explained myself too well in this post (forgive me, I'm a little tired!) so, if you would like a better explanation of what is needed then I politely ask you to visit the link below and sign up for the free video report.

If, after you've viewed the video, you think it's a con then please comment below and I'll happily remove you from the email list and I'll also remove this post and i'll thank you for your time and effort.

Grrr! So annoyed with myself and the 'training' section of the back office for this 'system'.

Advice was given that you could gain signups through placing ads on a free classified ad site - a good video was given that actually dissected 2 ads side by side and showed their +s and -es.

Dutifully I go to the site this morning and spend 3 happy hours posting 30 ads in various sections - always ensuring that I comply with the ToS etc. etc.

I then visit the Facebook group for any further steps I should take with respect to promoting these ads; only to be told:

"******** is Ruff!! Most of The Optins Your Going To get Are Going To Come From Other Marketers. Once They Get Your Email Address,They Will Spam You Like CRAZY! Best Advice Dont Advertise On ********. You Been Warned. lol... Start Making Youtube Videos. 90% Of Internet Marketing And To get on The Board Only Comes From Youtube. Other 10% Is Paid Ads. PEACE!!"

I do wish that other sites out there would keep their training videos up-to-date and, if it happens as the quote above says, then they either make it plain or take that training off the site.

Oh well, I've only invested time so now it's off to the RRW vault to dowload Article To Video and some royalty-free music and start to assemble some YT vids.

Hey Dom, sorry to here that the reality didn't live up to the expectations... or the hype, quite typical in the  "Make Money Online Without Spending A Dime" arena.

That old saying "It takes money, to make money" is not completely true... to make money online requires an 'investment' of at the very least 2 of the 3 necessities... time, effort and money... It is up to you how you decide to "balance" their intersection point"

A vast majority of these 'paid to refer' type sites are actually nothing more than replication portals for 'affiliate network programs' offered by - CJ, CB, SAS, PJ, etc....

Some of the more infamous ones being InstandRewards, ZNZ (ZipNadaZitch), BigKaBang, etc are in direct and complete violation of the TOS of the affiliate agreements of the companies being 'represented' with regard to "incentivized leads".

They promote at least in public extensively the easy and quick cash for simple tasks... completing several trial offers for products and services with no real interest in what is being offered but rather just done in order 'to qualify'... but with the intent always to cancel the product or service just before the trial expires (and your credit card gets hit for the monthly charge).

If not an outright illegal practice then at the very least an rather unethical one... at least in my opinion.

There are much more ethical stable and lucrative ways I have found to earn additional money without any investment at all... but which then like I said do require a larger investment of both time and effort.

If I can assist you, or any RRW member, in any way to explore options to even let you 'breath a bit easier"or just bounce ideas around, hit me... I promise to do whatever I can

Sorry to hear that Dom.  *duh*  I know Mark got Hqplrstore's latest plr which is on video marketing.  I know that will have some great tips and tricks for you to use.  You have Article to Video and EZ Video Spinner as well! 2 products that Andy created.  With these 2 you can make some nice videos.  Do you have Video Maker Fx, Easy Sketch Pro or TTS Video Maker?  These will help you make a variety of promotional videos especially with the plr material inside RRW!  ;)

Hi Dom!

Sorry to hear about that project not working out for you!

Online Business is rarely as simple as some of these "make money" ads state.

I hope this is not off topic, but biggest thing I see is people jumping from one thing to another. Done it myself.

Never used the one you've mentioned, so have no input. I personally stick with the simple proven routes such as affiliate marketing and selling digital products. I sure don't like to rely on other people's "systems", cept for affiliate programs.

If more people just worked hard on what has proven to work, more folks would be making money. Course, just my opinion.

Am I being to negative? Sure don't mean to :)

The thing that I do is use the Google Keyword Tool and you can find out what people are looking for like heartburn how do you prevent it.  This is a good tool and the Niches is the same way just type it in and you can get the results on what people are looking for.
