I used Getresponse briefly and it is easy to use and has alot of functions. However I didnt have a list at the time, so I felt like I was paying for something I didn't need. I had an issue with Getresponse however. When I decided to cancel, they gave me the option to "freeze" my account so that my info wouldn't be lost and drop my fee to $5/month. However, after about a month when I decided to fully cancel, the ONLY way I could cancel is by re-instating my account, in which they charged me the monthly $15! I have a problem with that because I wasn't able to use the account while it was "frozen". Needless to say, Im NOT paying for service I couldn't use.

That is pretty surprising. With their big name you'd think they wouldn't pull stuff like that. I agree, not the best way to treat past customers. Seems that make it difficult to cancel, huh?

It was easy for me to cancel. I just pulled my Paypal subscription and then emailed them to let them know.   X::X

Their tech support was ridiculously awful. They don't even know their own product.

Aweber baaaaaaaby.....  8))

Finally, proof I am not the only one that found their support to be severely lacking. I couldn't get answers for simple questions. I won't say they blew me off, but it was like it wasn't too important to help me. Sure did not want to go out of their way. And like you said, these are questions about their product that they should have been able to rattle off easily.

Oddly too, at the time I used them, there was little to no support documents, no knowledge base, ect. There was a forum but you had to be a member and there was NO way to sign up. It was quite strange.

While Aweber is not perfect, their support has always been fantastic for me. Not only very helpful, but checking in after support. Not to mention their huge knowledge base. Wish they had the couple things I liked about GT.

The biggest thing I miss about GR is the ability to move a subscriber from one list to another with no interacion from that subscriber. AW, it would appear, has no intention of adding that feature.  *duh*

Well that is a touchy subject. Pretty much has to do with the difference between single optin and double optin. Aweber is VERY pro double optin. And of course with double opt-in, there is no moving in between lists without another verification from the subscriber.

Your GT account must have been set to single, or you changed your lists to be single optin.

From what I understand, when you sign up for Aweber, you can turn off double optin. But once your account is set to double optin, there is no going back. Unless I am wrong you can go single with Aweber, and then you could move subs without interaction, but has to be set in that way in  the beginning.

I appreciate you all for starting this topic.  I was seriously considering using Mailchimp in order to cut down costs.  However, with the projects that I am interested in, I would be in direct conflict with their acceptable use policy.  Right now I am doing the free trial with Getresponse since it is integrated with JVZoo.

God bless, y'all,

There's a few new players that haven't been mentioned here yet. Gumroad.com is a great platform for newsletter distribution. A normal link will take your customer to your sales listing (not a page, really). They can sign up, pay and be rolled over to a "workflow" system (that you set up) that will send out the newsletters (PDF) that you uploaded for as long as the subscriber pays at the proper intervals. If they stop paying, they stop getting the product.

A newer AR is ActiveCampaign.com. Very strong features and automation tools. Both have tutorial videos. I'm setting my new "Rock & Roll" newsletter up on these tools. So far, really good.

I send out a daily email from one of my sites.  Almost 3000 subscribers.  I have used DadaMail for the last six to seven years on this.  It is a paid option and continually upgraded.  The support is good.

I happen to have my own server and host it there.  I think you can use it with other services now, not sure.  It doesn't work as an autoresponder, but works well as an email list service.

I found MailChimp tough to use.
All the best.
