I run Norton Internet Security 2015 on my machine and have had zero problems with any RRW problems until now.

The new PLR Software programs in the January 2015 downloads and Norton do not seem to get along. Norton keeps making the program and brander .exe files as a security risk and putting them in quarantine before you can click your mouse!  The risk is identified as WS.Reputation.1 which simply means a low number of current Norton users use these files. (At this time, the count was just 100 users).

After searching the Symantec forums, I ran across this suggested fix and so far it has worked:

1) Select the zip file and unzip it. DO NOT RUN THE EXE FILE YET!!

2) Right click the program exe file and choose to run Norton Insight

3) You will get a report that claims the file is a bad risk and identifies the risk as WS.Reputation.1. Look carefully on the right hand side and you will see an option for "Trust"   Click that. It will ask you to confirm. Agree.

Do this for both the program exe and the brander.exe files.

After completing these steps you will be able to run your new software.

I hope this helps those who run into this issue....and saves a little hair from being pulled out!

Technical Assistance / Somebody is knocking
« on: May 27, 2014, 12:40:23 AM »
The site I have hosted on the Pro Hosting is the target for a hacker once more.

THIS time, however, he is not been able to get into it. I have had a daily notice from the security measures I have in place notifying me of a log in lockout  because of too many failed attempts.

This character's ip is  37.59.2.42 and has not changed in any of the attempt notifications.

The IP lookup for him is on this site http://www.ip-finder.me/37.59.2.42/

What needs to happen now??

Technical Assistance / Problems with PLR Blogs 211-220
« on: January 12, 2014, 02:44:16 PM »
Is anyone else having troubles with installing the PLR Blogs 211-220?

I used the admin password that was included with the files and it simply does not work.
Log In Lock down won't let me in to the admin area?

Is there a way to temporarily delete this plugin through C-Panel so I can access the admin area to set it up securely?  I can always go back in and reinstall it after I get in.

What is happening it after I input the data, it takes me to a screen that states I do not have sufficent permissions to access that page

Ideas?

Technical Assistance / Wordpress Posts displayed on a Facebook Page?
« on: December 28, 2013, 09:34:42 PM »
Does anyone know how to connect a Wordpress blog to a Facebook page via script or plugin so a new blog post will display on the Facebook page?

I have seen a plugin or script like this before, but for the life of me I cannot find it again (must have something to do with the number of grey hairs in my beard..hehe)

What I am trying to do is connect the two where when I make a short article post to a blog, it will also display to a facebook page (not timeline) that is all a part of my blogging and marketing endeavor. I don;t care about displaying adsense on the blog post so that is not an issue. I really would not care if it just showed a snippet and a "read more here" type link that would take an interested reader to the blog page the original article was on. The idea with that is to pull in traffic from interested readers to a monetized blog.

Anybody?

Questions About Latest Products / Affiliate Power Tool Profits
« on: November 23, 2013, 12:34:47 PM »
OK. I am confused and need some help please.

The Affiliate Power Tool Profits package says it comes with Resale Rights.

The license says :

[YES] Can sell
[YES] Can sell with resell rights

[YES] Can be added to paid membership sites
[YES] Can be used for personal use
[YES] Can be given to list subscribers
[YES] Can be packaged with other products
[YES] Can be offered as a bonus

[NO] Cannot be edited
[NO] Cannot be used as web content

[NO] Cannot Sell PLR Rights

So this means we can sell the product with or without resell rights, or we can use the content for personal use..but we cannot use any of it for web content such as using the articles on a blog promoting the items the reviews are about??

This confuses me as to how I can use this package.
Please advise??

Yup. I had a site on the Pro Hosting server a hacker got into. Try as I might I couldn't figure out what files he had tinkered with so I had to just take it down so I can start over.  *duh*

Lessons learned:

#1)  Back up your wordpress blogs or websites

#2) Implement tough as you can possibly get security measures

#3) Change passwords regularly

#4) Back up your wordpress blogs or websites

#5) Did I mention Back up your wordpress blogs or websites?

Luckily, it was a pretty new site and didn't have that much content so it will not be a bad rebuild.

I have all the review articles I had on the site in a folder on my hard drive so they can be replaced.

I changed my account password and the admin email password.

I deleted the current wordpress site and the database linked to it.

Can anyone think of anything I may have missed in the cleanout?

Any security suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Strange thing is, I am not really angry. I view this as a learning experience and an opportunity to share with my friends here my experience.
Hopefully others will learn from my experience and newbies will see that a hacker threat is NOT a hollow scare tactic..it happens.

Thanks for reading.  Remember to lock the doors on your website.  There are vermin out there wanting to get in!

Marketing Talk / It finally happened. Hard lesson learned
« on: June 29, 2013, 04:18:02 PM »
I am curious as to if anybody else has had an experience like this:

I had a decent wordpress site on the topic of self publishing. Key word "had." I was working on building traffic and was really starting to get some results.

I tried to log in today to add some articles and got a 403 access denied error page.  I was thinking "what the heck..." so I logged into my main domain for the site's control panel and got a shock. All the files in the subdomain were gone. not just missing or corrupt. Gone!

I open my email client and check for any type of communications from my webhost. Guess what? in the junk folder I find several related emails. It seems a company that makes therapeutic drugs and other health related products had complained to my webhost that there was un-approved content on my site used without written consent and requested it be taken down!  There was absolutely nothing on that site even close to being related to their business. All I ever posted on there was self publishing related!  I had no CPC ads, no RSS feeds, and no banner ads at all. Nothing that would have attempted to steal traffic from the complaining company. The only content I posted dealt with how to write and self publish ebooks. That's it.

I can only think of two things that may have happened. 1) I may have approved a comment from a visitor that may have had a link to something related to them, or 2) my site was hacked and the intruder placed hidden keywords or hidden "follow" links  on my last post that was drawing traffic from SEO and search engines.

Whatever happened, my website was removed. Gone. No more. Most likely that domain is worthless now. Probably blacklisted.

The lesson I learned from this is if I allow comments in the future, and I probably won't, I will pay way more strict attention to the poster's URL.
Also, I will just use social buttons to allow people to share what they like, and article RSS feeds.

I will also be reviewing some of the material found on RRW pertaining to wordpress security and tightening this up quite a bit.

Once more I state, there was nothing I put on that site that could be construed as even related to that company. It is like I was picked at random to get stepped on like an ant on the sidewalk. But what is done, is done. Nothing to do but move forward.

Be careful out there...as the old seafaring maps used to carry the legend "There be Monsters.."

Technical Assistance / Pinterest to Wordpress Plugin?
« on: June 13, 2013, 05:01:26 PM »
I may have missed it...or it may be buried deep somewhere I did not know where to look for it...maybe found it and didn't realize it. (I'm having THAT kind of week!)

But does anyone know of a wordpress plugin that would display pins from one of your pinterest boards on a wordpress blog?

Maybe something like this?  http://wordpress.org/plugins/pinterest-rss-widget/

I have a gardening blog I would like to display pins I recently pinned, linked to from my gardening board to gain followers and add some interest, to maybe get return visitor traffic.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Technical Assistance / Domain name triggers junk filters?????
« on: March 27, 2013, 11:05:06 PM »
Ok. This one is a head scratcher!

I set one of the niche blogs up on a domain that fits the niche perfectly.

When I was setting the newsletter up and testing the messages...every email account I used sent the test messages to the junk or spam folder..even though Aweber's Spam Assassin gave it a perfect score of 0.

The only thing I can figure out is the domain name is triggers the filters

http://www.makemoneyblogging.co   Um...did I shoot myself in the foot with that one?

Opinions and advice are  very welcome!!!!   :help:

The Freebie Forum / Searching for a great domain name?
« on: February 24, 2013, 02:16:13 PM »
I was looking for a new domain name today for a site I am working on.

Geez, I think every name or variation of it is covered these days!!

I did run across a very cool site, though, that I felt I needed to share with the forum.
I have seen a few name tumblers in my time online, but NONE of them were as easy to use
or gave you as many choices as this one:  http://www.namestall.com/

Look for the domain name generator tab at the top left.

I hope you find this useful!

The Freebie Forum / Send to Kindle! Better than sliced bread!!
« on: August 26, 2012, 05:52:49 PM »
I recently ran across an extension for Google Chrome users that will allow you to select a web page, article, a block of selected text that you want to read more thoroughly later...and send it to your kindle with two clicks.  I tried it out on a few of Mark's marketing how-to posts and it worked perfectly.  This extension formats the document exactly to display in the Kindle ereader...even formats and includes any links in the body of the document.

From what I have read so far, the extension is only available for google chrome at the moment, but the extensions for Firefox and Apple Safari are coming soon.

Here is a link to the page on Amazon where you can get it and read more on it's features and instructions for use:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle/chrome

Enjoy!

Has anybody tried this Azon WP Theme yet???

I watched the videos and my mind went crazy!  As far as I can tell, the person who narrated the videos used amazon affiliate links in the set up, but from what I can see, you can set the theme up for a product review site and use other affiliate links too?  Am I missing something here? Or am I seeing that right?

I have a semi-dormant site that this would be perfect for if that is so.  I think I will back everything up and give it a try and see if it works.  Would be nice to give that site a jolt and make it show more of a return.

Wow...my head is spinning here...

Technical Assistance / Help with Facebook Pages
« on: January 22, 2012, 08:42:21 PM »
Am I missing something?

Ever video and info product I have read shows a simple method of using an iFrame to add things to a Facebook page. I have not been able to find the box to enter the coding for the iFrame YET!  I have clicked on every link, read all the available FB help pages, and I still can't find the thing.  Am I overlooking something?

What I wanted to do was add a subscription form on the page for a free ecourse to help with building a list.

If this feature is no longer available (and I am not blind or crazy) I will have to try something different. Something like a post describing the course and benefits then a link pointing to an external sign up page.

Please advise.....

Thanks!

Technical Assistance / Domain question for a new blog
« on: December 31, 2011, 07:52:10 PM »
My main site is a blog and wears my domain name.  I want to create a separate blog to sell products from, but I would like the domain name in it also for branding.

Would it better better to just buy a new domain, or could I use mine with the resell site in a sub folder?

Using widgets as an example product for illustration purposes--

Example:  hxxp://mydomain-widgets.com   versus  hxxp://xxx.mydomain.com/widgets  versus a sub-domain like //widgets.mydomain.com ? (using x's til I get my post count up..hehe)

The end result is a domain the would be branded and easier for a visitor to remember how to type into their address bar.

I could just make a page in WP and put the items there, but there should be quite a few pages in the end and I really don't want each one listed in the nav bar AND I don't think it

would give me the desired end result. I want the blog that sells products to appear as a separate entity.

I hope that is a bit clearer than mud.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

New Member Intros / New Member from Oklahoma saying "Hi!"
« on: December 25, 2011, 09:49:52 PM »
Apologies for not posting sooner, but I have been busy checking out the resources on this site. This site is AWESOME!
Though I haven't put any of the resources to use just yet, I can already tell this site is going to be a great help to me,
since it has everything I could ever want from a membership site.  I applaud Mark for the great job he has done here!

I have never joined a membership site before that goes into such detail in training you with what to do with the products
and how to make money with them.. it is just incredible!

I feel I have found a home here at last.  The forum members are great and it seems like more of a family that a message board community.

I am pretty new to online marketing, but I can feel the ideas growing when I am on this site.  I am looking forward to being a member for a long time!

Cheers!
