I'm sure you're all sick & tired of my music thing.
BUT,
I think it's only fair to share with you that after...- "OK, but who's going to record that??"
- "Nope, it's corny"
- "Umm, well written, but it's Bubble Gum for crying out loud!"
- "Too wordy"
- "I don't get it. Cool Bluesy kinda thing though"
I GOT ME A WINNER!!!

Now the real work begins.
And the waiting,
and the nail biting,
and the pacing,
and the sleepless nights,
probably more changes to make,
and more waiting,
and THEN, just
maybe it'll get recorded and I'll be getting quarterly royalty checks for the rest of my days +70 years.
THAT's why it's worth the effort

I will warn you though: it made the publisher cry like a baby--it's a tear-jerker.
Hey, I couldn't even sing the rough demo without choking up.
Color On the Walls
Words and Music © 2011-2012 KAREN DENNING
I USED TO GET SO ANGRY OVER LITTLE DEEDS YOU DID
NOTHING UNUSUAL YOU WERE JUST BEIN' A KID
I'D SAY, DON'T YOU TOUCH MY FIGURINES
DON'T GET RIPS IN THOSE NEW JEANS
SIT STILL, YOU'RE JUST TOO NOISY
DON'T SUCK YOUR THUMB, GO WATCH TV
...BACK THEN HOW COULD I HAVE KNOWN
[CHORUS]
NOW I CAN'T SEE YOU, I CAN'T HUG YOU
I CAN'T TELL YOU JUST HOW MUCH I REALLY LO-OVE YOU
HOW, NONE OF THAT MATTERED AT ALL
I'D GIVE ANYTHING TO SIT BESIDE YOU NOW, AND WATCH YOU COLOR ON THE WALLS
it-STIRRED ME LIKE A HORNET'S NEST WHEN YOU WOULDN'T CLEAN YOUR ROOM
A TYPICAL TEENAGER WHO LIKED TO SLEEP TILL NOON
I'D SAY, GET YOURSELF OUT OF THAT BED
LOUSY GRADES HERE, USE YOUR HEAD
OFF THE PHONE, YOU TALK TOO MUCH
OH, WHY WON'T YOU JUST GROW UP
...BACK THEN HOW COULD I HAVE KNOWN
[REPEAT CHORUS]
[BRIDGE]
THERE'S A PROMISE I PUT MY HOPE IN
SOON OUR KING WILL SHOUT THE WAKE UP CALL
YOU'LL COME ALIVE, AND YOUR BLUE EYES ARE GONNA OPEN
THEN I CAN SEE YOU, AND I'LL HUG YOU
GONNA TELL YOU JUST HOW MUCH I REALLY LOVE YOU
NEVER HIDE THOSE PICTURES YOU DRAW
...WHEN YOU COLOR ON THE WALLS
