Today, the 5th of July 2012 I sent my wee pal Tammy to sleep for the final time. In a matter of two days her health deteriorated so fast. Wife and daughter took her to the vets. She had a tumour and the fact it would have cost us a few hunderd $$'s which we couldn't have afforded anyway, the vet said it would just prolong her agony. So we decided to do the right thing.
From the time I came from work last night at 8pm until we left with her a midday today was the longest ever. Stayed up with her all night, hour after hour which I wanted to reach midday the next day and I didn't if you know what I mean. When it was time to leave, had a wee lump in my throat. Even Tammy I think had given up. We got to the vets and there was a guy in with 2 huskies. She wasn't interested. Normally she would have been amongst it. one of the Huskies was licking her face and trying to play with her. Think the Husky knew she wasn't well.
Got called after 20 minutes, took her into the room. She walked about, vet got a blanket, I lifted her up onto the table. She wasn't any bother, didn't flinch as if she knew/wanted the end to come. After it was all over I was ok, wife crying a wee bit. Said our goodbyes. In the car my daughter phoned, I couldn't speak to her, burst out crying. My daughter was devastated as we all were but she took it bad. When she left our house last night she was hysterical.
Tammy now no longer in pain. We will never forget the love, laughs and troubles she got us in. If she had half a chance she would run away and come home the next day. Sometimes she never came home. I decided one of the times to phone the local police station, and lo and behold they had her. Had been picked up. That happened on a number of occasions.
Hope I haven't bored you guys. I just need to get this off my chest...still a bit teary I am...
Regards
Donald
