Marketing Talk / Re: Watermarking Photos
« on: November 20, 2009, 05:11:55 PM »
Hey Val

If it just something that you want to show on a site that you 'control' you can double layer or overlay a transparent image with the logo/url that you want displayed and have that new image 'layer' link where ever you like.

Not sure the exact process  but a company that I worked for years ago did this with all their online images as a way of protecting them from being hot-linking or hi-jacked -- the actual image was covered with the transparent (except for their logo/url) image then anyone who saved or linked to the 'image' on their site got only the top layer (the url/logo).

Hope this helps (if not you then someone)

If not this then maybe something like it added

Wow, Mark.

I'm impressed...with you as usual and I have to echo Karen -- WOW!
(your right, Karen, these look like some pretty good compilers if I wanted .exe files)

Thanks for the great info Mark but maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing.

I need to output in PDF format. The software that I was looking at did that and would allow you to re-organize the chapters etc before completion. The chapter/article are cut-and-paste into a series of "blocks" that are then able to be organized as necessary and that would be reflected in TOC

The output file also could have locked down access to portions of the document by password which would be sent upon their registering their copy (the TOC and various areas or chapters or so are open to all so that can be passed around to friends, etc)

It included a pre-built 'legal disclaimer' and 'author bio' page as well as page with a "send to friend" option (I am thinking that this must be linking to an external (A/R???) script that I host) that allowed pulling from address books from various clients and services (AOL, Gmail, Outlook, etc) and a white-listing explanation page (This is why I was thinking an external autoresponder)

It was 'brandable' so that any affiliate links in the document could be branded by those who wanted to buy the upgrade. Branding links was Clickbank for sure but I think maybe PayDotCom was an option or was coming.

Hi Mark Thanks for the quick reply.

I believe that it's a newly released item ( not even sure if you have added it yet) I was browsing the website and video tutorial online when lost service. Now I can't find the site I was on. (Already tried browser history) just thought that maybe you or someone else would recognize it or know where to get it...

If you don't have it yet it would make a fine addition to the arsenal

John

and no it is not ecompiler.

OK I know that this is probably not the best place to post this but I'm at my wits end.
(Mark, you have my blessing to move to a more appropriate area if deemed necessary)

There is a software package out there that I have just seen the other day but can't locate now. Help please!

This software will "build" an ebook for you. You select the text articles/chapters what ever and it will create the linkable TOC for you and the drag and drop will reflect any changes to the order of articles/chapters. Also has a disclaimer page, Author Bio, etc.

I think that this is a recent release but can't be sure.

Any pointers to this would be greatly appreciated

(Anyone who knows me realizes that I the top has already learned quite well how to thin on its own.)

Profit Maker Club / Re: Quickie Poll For PMC Sites: Ebay or No eBay?
« on: October 01, 2009, 10:17:33 AM »
Hi Guys,

Currently all you have to do is input your eBay affiliate id in the config file, and the eBay affiliate ads with your id shows up on the sites. How would you guys feel about having the ebay ads code put into a separate file? The sites would be structured so that they "pull" the eBay section into the page. Here's why I think this may be a good solution:

If you want to keep the eBay ads on your sites, you don't have to do anything but go to that 1 file and input your eBay affiliate id.

If you do not want the eBay affiliate ads then all you have to do is go to that 1 file and delete the contents.

I believe this is the best solution for keeping everyone happy. Your opinion?

Mark

As always Mark, common sense prevails.

This does seem to be the best solution (maybe I am biased since 40% of my income comes from EBAY). I do recognize that for some topics it could be more appropriate to offer products from other sources (PDC, CB, PJ, or CJ).

How about switching it up - have the off the shelf install default to no ebay ads. Then we could have a file that we can input the code for affiliate program of choice and then simply turn it on by updatting one file.

Just my 2 cents
