Marketing Talk / Wordpress updating and plugins...

Me again with a WP question....

I have installed WP on a page to use it as a blog (not started yet).
But when I want to update the version or install themes or plugins, the system starts to download the
ZIP file but then does not do anything more....
On other pages where I have installed WP it works perfectly, takes some seconds to install and activate a plugin or theme.
On this page I only have problems... I worked once with a plugin and now not anymore. I have installed WP several times, even deleted the database and created a new one....
Then I uploaded the plugins via FTP and wanted to install them. But the site 'crashed' after trying to activate one plugin, I only see an empty page now... cannot do anything now.

Any ideas why this does not work on this page?
For this page I use 1&1 as the hoster and have version MySQL 5.0 there.
For the other pages I have another host. Could this be the reason?

Hi

Since I am from Switzerland and live in the German speaking part I have also the possibility to market for Germany, Switzerland and Austria in German. The market is quite big and has a good potential.
What I have read lately is that in my case I should have a German hoster for my German pages, because of
Geo Targeting.....
And I should not have too many backlinks from US sites otherwise Google would think this page is more related to
the US and does not rank it that well for Germany....

Has anyboday heard about such behaving of search engines?

I would get backlinks also from the US, especially because of all the tools I have, they are actually for US sites....
but of course I don't want to risk that my German page ranks in the US for keywords nobody knows :-)

Hi

Another question.
How do you protect your download pages?
Let's say you offer a free report and send the users from your list the download link.
Do you send a link like www.yourdomain.com/download/freereport.pdf or do you rout them to
a download page like www.yourdomain.com/download.html and have a text and the file there?

Generally you don't want other people to see your download pages (free reports, or the ones you sell), so
I would probably need to exclude the page or whole directory in the robots.txt so it gets not indexed by
search engines, right?
What else can you do to protect the pages with your reports you give away or sell?

Hey

What do you think about having the hop numbers in the URL?
I mean you direct users to your affiliate link and they will be shown a URL like this www.product.com/?hop=xxxx
Don't you think it could influence a user whether to buy or not?
www.product.com would look much better or not?

Is it possible to show it without the hop number?

What's your thoughts about that?

Hi there

I have created a page in wordpress, see it in the menu but when I click on it wordpress still shows me my homepage...
This happens with several themes...
Are there any themes that cannot handle pages? Or what could be the cause?

Marketing Talk / Annoying Landing Pages....

Hey

I have visited lots of lately published new products in the internet, mostly clickbank products.
Is it only me, or do you also think too long landingpages do not motivate to read all of it.... if you want to
leave the page you have to at least 4 times click on OK until it's finally closed..... If you buy something you get
at least another 4 OTO pages where they try to sell more and more.....

I have read in an article that long landing pages sell much better than short ones.....
What are your opinions, thoughts, what do you use on your pages?

I think an OTO page is great, but when you get 4 of them it's sometimes really annoying, isn't it?

Just wondering what works best for you guys.

Marketing Talk / keywords in singular and plural

Hi

Another question about keyword research.
what if my keyword would be for example adwords campaign and adwords campaigns, singular gets 4000 searches
and plural gets 6000 searches (numbers are wrong, just an example). That would be 10'000 together.
Would it be enought to have the plural in my articles and on my page because the singular word is the same except the s
at the end....
Or is it really different and I have to mention both singular and plural on the page/title/article?

Profit Maker Club / Setting up PMC on Wordpress

Hi there

I do have a domain where I want to publish several PMC sites, not only one.
How would I do that when I want to publish everything on Wordpress instead of the ones we can download?
I would have my domain like www.mydomain.com/acaiberry and www.mydomain.com/3D as example.
How do I need to set up wordpress to have a short introduction on the root mydomain.com and then link to
the several projects?
Would acaiberry be a page or post? How about the other pages which belong to the acaiberry?
What would be a good theme for that?

Sorry, many questions about WP, I'm still learning about this stuff.

Has anybody a good suggestion for a good WP ebook?
I have watched the videos in the online university section but want to learn more about WP.
Especially usefull plugins, how to change themes and so on.
I'm still a newbie on WP.
When I search for word press on our product search I get a ton of results.....
Maybe you have read one of those ebooks and can recommend a good one?

Hi there

I come with a strange phenomenon which I have all the time when I want to check for keywords on google and yahoo....

Hope that somebody can clarify this for me :-)

I just take any keyword phrase like 'search engine optimization secrets'

I search for that in google without quotes and get around 14.3 mio and 5.2 on Yahoo.
When I search with quotes I get around 21'800 on google and 44'100 on yahoo. Double of google....

Now the whole thing with allintitle (with and without quotes):
allintitle: without quotes I get 1670 on google and 52 on Yahoo
allintitle: with quotes I get 20'700 on google and 8 on yahoo

Yahoo makes sense to me because with quotes I would expect less results than without quotes, right?
without means that all the words just need to be somewhere in the title and with quotes in exactly this
sequence... So how come that with quotes I get more than 10 times more results as without???

Can the numbers also have influence on which google page does search for the keywords? When I give in google.com
I'm rerouted to google.ch (swiss)
I tried also with scroogle.org but there I don't see whole number of results anymore....
Really confusing this stuff on search engines.....

Hey

I was wondering how you guys handle all your accounts of email providers, affiliate networks, article directories and so on.
Just for which provider you subscribed with which email. Or which project you submitted on which article sites, blogs, social bookmarks and so on.
Is there a good tool to use or do you have a good excel sheet to have the overview?

I'm using an excel sheet, but it's still kinda complicated....

Marketing Talk / reason for having several CB accounts?

Hi

In clickbank salesletter you always read that the "big" marketers have several click bank accounts.... what's the reason for that?
Do you also use different accounts? Group it to niches, or for every product you promote?
I'm glad when I get something on my account at all, so no need (yet) for a second one.....
