Google Analytics and PMC Sites
« on: January 23, 2010, 01:59:56 PM »
Hi Mark/Gang

Whereabouts on the PMC sites would be the recommended place for Google's analytics code?

Plus - is there any way of altering the source code for the sites or do we have to come through you to do that?

Cheers for any answers / ideas / recommendations

Dom

Oh great questions, Dom.

Thank you for asking.  I, too, will be interested to see what Mark says.

The Google Analytic code should be located just before the </body> tag

I have noticed conflicts when using GA with other programs on my sites.

Any specific programs Jim?

Do you think that, for the next set of PMC sites we could have another .txt file where we could put our tracking software or do they have to go in certain areas?

Cheers

Hi Dom,

Like Jim said, the Google code needs to be placed right before the /<body> tag. I can have next months sites structured so that each page will have the code included through the use of 1 central text file. Would that work for you guys?

I use a great 'at what it was designed for' pop up.

GA will not work with it, so it is either one or the other on a particular page.

It is fairly obvious when there is a conflict.

Hi Jim,

It would work like the PMC "intro" file works now. There would be a blank text file located in the includes folder of each PMC site. To add the google code to each page, you would only have to paste the code into that text file.

Thanks,
Mark
