Website Design Question
« on: January 04, 2010, 03:33:30 PM »
Hi Folks

I have a website design question for you.

Quite a few non-blog websites have a block of color on one side, then a block of text then a final block of color (reading left to right across the screen).

How would I go about achieving that look in my wysiwyg editor?

Cheers

Val

Hi Dom,

Do you have an example site that you can show us?

Hi

That effect might have been done with frames.
Let me know if you need any help with the code.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about - it's not the best but it does explain it a bit:

http://www.acnetohealth.com/

On that site there is 2 blocks of brown to either side and the text block in the middle.
This is the effect I'm looking to reproduce

Hi Dom,

In your example site, that brown is the background color. You can use images or just colors for the body background. You can do that several ways ...

<BODY BGCOLOR="#000000">     <----- add your color code there

Or if you are using styles.css:

BODY
{
background-color: #000000;
  <----- add your color code there
}

If you want to use an image as your background:

<body background="yourimagefile.jpg"  style="background-repeat: repeat;">

or css:

body
{
background-image:url('yourimagefile.jpg');
background-repeat: repeat;
}

Hope that helps,
Mark
