I saw that one of the Daily Templates is on Slam Dunking, but I'm not sure that's the direction you're headed with the site.

Like Wayne said, there's an HTML template in the Daily templates you could take the header from to use on a blog.
There's also a Basketball Blog in the membership.

If neither of these work for you, you might wish to consider this option.

I have a developer's license for BoxedArt.com as well as the sister sites.
They have a templates that could be used as a starting block.

As you can see below, you wouldn't need to purchase your own license, simply be registered in my Client Log. Since it has to be customized anyway, there's plenty of freedom for creating something to your taste.

I can charge whatever I wish, there's no minimum fee stated anywhere in their TOS.

The relevant terms are as follows...

Registering your client's usage of our products creates a licensing for their use.

You may develop websites from templates for your clients. You can customize the templates with your clients' content and set up their websites for them.

You may not simply download templates and other products to share with your friends or colleagues, you may not sell the templates at auction sites such as ebay, you may not offer the templates for download from your website, and you may not sell the template as-is without having customized the template for your client's website

Additionally, you must also register your client's website within your account manager to document their authorized use of the product.
