Changing Text Color In Wordpress
« on: April 20, 2011, 02:29:24 PM »
Hi Gang

I have a Wordpress blog with a nice theme.

However, when I enter a 'tagline' to the site, the background image makes reading the tagline unreadable.

If I want to change the color of the text from its current white to black - whereabouts will I find the code to change this?

I've looked at the header template and also in the CSS template but couldn't see anything obvious.

The theme is 'Smoke 1.1' by Bingo

Naturally any help would be gratefully received

Cheers

Val

It will almost certainly be in the style.css for the theme, but the "easy" way to figure it out is to use Firebug or Firebug Lite or the Inspect Element in Chrome.

I believe they all show what CSS file a certain element is being styled by and let you make changes realtime to test before you go open the file and fix it permanently.

If you need help with that, drop me a PM with the URL and I'll find it proper quick.

Firebug - a nice little addon for FF users - good call Wayne!

Still couldn't do what I wanted to do - so did the next easiest thing and removed the tagline.

ON Site SEO? Bah - who needs it - :-)

Hi D,

Would this work for you?

Find this...

Code: [Select]
<div id="header">
and change it to this...

Code: [Select]
<div id="header" style="background-color:#000000;">
Then (assuming your tagline is a light color??) it should be visible.

Or, better yet...

Code: [Select]
<body class="home page page-id-11 page-parent page-template page-template-default">
replace with...

Code: [Select]
<body style="background-color:#000000;" class="home page page-id-11 page-parent page-template page-template-default">
