How Can I "RE"-SEO Ready-Made Websites I Purchased (Stupid Me!!)
« on: September 17, 2011, 12:13:06 AM »
As you can see by my title, I bought some ready-made websites which turned out to be lemons. The people who built them for me didn't know squat about SEO (No XML Sitemap, No All-in-One SEO Pack, etc..).

I have Admin and CPanel access to each of these sites. How can I go in (SIMPLY, please!) to add XML Sitemap, All-in-One SEO Pack in order to make these sites more friendly to Big G and perhaps eventually get onto Page 1?

OR -- Is this idea just a little bit too unrealistic and I just take the "hit" for wasting my money??

I've tried every search phrase I can think of in Wordpress.org but nothing comes up for a solution.

Many Thanks for any assistance.

Bill Landry

Hi Bill

If you have access to the wordpress admin area, then simply go to the plugins section and add the plugins that you require...
You can search for the ones you want from within the plugin section of the admin panel.

Then you will need to do some on-page seo work like the H1 H2 & H3 tags...anchor text and links etc
Add in some pictures and video with links as per the usual seo work up...

I'm not an expert and what I have said can be improved upon in more detail by either a fellow
forum member with more skill or from the RRW main sitecheck out the video training in the "Marketing Roadmap" section...
Scroll to the bottom of the page and select the 3rd one up "WordPress 301 Video Tutorials (47 videos)"

Not sure if you need to be a Gold Member to access these...if so, then do a simple search for "WordPress 101 or 201...
You may get these videos free via a sign up...

I hope this helps

Regards
Craig

Hi Bill,

Along the lines of what Craig said, you can install (or have someone install for you) whatever plugins you'd like.
(I'm assuming when you say "admin" access, it's a Wordpress site. Otherwise, you can't add the plugins! ;))

If you haven't used any of the SEO plugins on other sites, I'd suggest Wordpress SEO by Yoast as it has all the usual on-page knobs to twiddle as well as having the XML sitemap functions built-in.

Let me know if you need some help.

Hi Wayne,

Me again! Went to my purchased websites and found that they were hacked so badly that all of my backlinks were riding on my bandwidth -- and with plenty of porn videos attached. I just decided to wipe out the whole thing from my hosting company and be done with it!! Once bitten -- twice shy???

On another note -- I'm learning all I can about building websites with Wordpress -- and I've been through quite a few videos (Zzzzzzzz!). But so far, to my dismay, I have not found any videos that show me how to take graphics from a Commission Junction, or Clickbank site - plus my affiliate link - to put them into my website!

Right now I feel like the further I go the behinder I get!!

If you, or someone reading can pt me onto somewhere to go I'll continue on with my learning (Zzzzzz!) and maybe get my websites up and running. Plenty of ideas, but not enough knowledge and no money for outsourcing!!

Thanks many times over to each and all.

Bill,

If you know how to add an image to a post, the only trick is doing "From URL" copy-paste the CJ/etc image link into "Image URL", then put your affiliate link in the "Link Image To:" spot.

Let me know if you need a screenshot.

Hi Bill,

Not knowing your WordPress theme, although I would imagine it has at least one sidebar...you ought to be able to also add your CJ/Clickbank affiliate stuff and image to the WP sidebar. Using a widget.

Do the copy/paste code thing like Wayne suggests and put it into a "text" widget. You can then move the "text" widget around in the sidebar (well, up or down) so it is placed in the order where you want it.

See my <a href="http://www.kittensandmittensandthings.com">Kittens 'n Things</a> blog, the 1st sidebar to the right of the posts.  Two in particular...one is a cat tree house, the other is a cat litter box furniture. Both of those are affiliate links (not CJ or Clickbank, though) and each is in a "text widget".

Hi Wayne,

A screenshot would be appreciated. Easier to get my head around -- for me. And thanks

Karen,

Looked at your site. Nice. Makes me think of the Flame-Point Javanese I used to have. Loved him!!

Thanks to you both,

Bill
