Hi Keywest,

Depending on your computer's operating system, you may need to download an extractor for the Zip files. Here's several:

jZip http://jzip.com/
ZipGenius http://www.zipgenius.com/
WinRAR http://www.rarlab.com/
7-Zip http://www.7-zip.org/

Not sure if you are sending a freebie to your list or if you are sending them a promotion. If you are sending them a freebie, be sure to check the product license first to make sure it allows that.  You'll need to zip the download folder("ProductName_X3js.zip") & upload it to your host using a ftp utility (like FileZilla (http://filezilla-project.org/) - Be sure to note the location where you upload the file to.  When you send out your email to your list just give them the link that you uploaded the file to. For example:

Hello [firstname],

Today I have a very special gift for you. It's a new ebook called "Cool New Ebook" that will show you how to do such & such. You can download it here: http://www.KeywestWebite/ProductName_X3js.zip

If you are sending your list a promotional email for a product then the process is a little bit different as you will be sending your list the salespage link instead of the download link. First you'll need to upload the product's reseller website to your host.  You will need to edit the salespage to add your payment button/links. There are several ways that you can edit the salepage. If you have a basic knowledge of HTML, just open it up with Notepad, Notepad++ (www.notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm),  or TextPad (www.textpad.com/).  Or if you prefer, you can just use one of the HTML editors such as:

CoffeeCup (www.coffeecup.com/)
Kompozer (www.kompozer.net/)
Dreamweaver (www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/)
Expression Web (www.microsoft.com/expression/)

And, of course, be sure to save your changes before you upload the edited salespage. Speaking of the salespage, I think it's always a good idea to add your name, a guarantee, and possibly a bonus to the existing salespage. Don't forget to add a 'Privacy Policy', 'Terms Of Use', & 'Contact Us' page to your site as well.

You will need to add your product to a folder & name the folder something odd so that it's hard to guess ... like "ProductName_X3js", or whatever. You do this so that digital thieves can't download your product just by guessing the download address.  Next you will need to zip (compress) that download folder("ProductName_X3js.zip") & upload it to your host. Two of the leading zip programs are 7-Zip (www.7-zip.org/) and WinZip (www.winzip.com/). Be sure to note the location where you upload it to.

You will need a Paypal account to take payment - see http://www.paypal.com (you can also use your own merchant account). To setup the payment button & download delivery, just log into your Paypal account. Click on "Merchant Services" and then click on "Buy Now" (under "Create Buttons").  Fill in the necessary information on that page. At the bottom of the page under "Step 3: Customize advanced features" you will notice where it says "Take customer to a specific page (URL) after successful checkout:". This is where you enter the url to your download page. After you fill in all the information, Paypal will give you the necessary HTML code that you will need to paste into your salesletter for the "Buy It Now" button.

Using Paypal to deliver your product works just fine ... but I personally prefer using a product delivery script such as DLGuard (www.dlguard.com/dlginfo/index.php). DLGuard will automatically delivery the product after a customer makes a purchase using a unique download link. This benefits you because you don't have to worry about people stealing your product. Nor do you have to worry about someone posting your download link on some public forum somewhere. (believe me, it happens!)  Also, some people also use services such as eJunkie to take care of this.  (see www.e-junkie.com/)  After you get all that done you may want to have a friend make a test purchase to make sure everything is working properly.

If you are using Wordpress then there are several WP plugins that you can use to help you with this process. Such as Digital Product Demon, WP Sales Automator,  Wcart WP Shopping Cart, and Magic Template WP Plugin - they're all available in the RRW members area. There's also the WP Easy Paypal Payment  Plugin (http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-easy-paypal-payment-or-donation-accept-plugin-120) and WordPress eStore Plugin (http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-estore-plugin-complete-solution-to-sell-digital-products-from-your-wordpress-blog-securely-1059)

Thanks,
Mark
