Can the downloads work with Wordpress?
« on: February 09, 2009, 02:12:06 PM »
Hi guys

Has anybody tried to use the downloads with wordpress?

Would it be a simple task or not?

Would it be possible to start getting WP templates in the downloads?

Is WP more SEO friendly?

Any ideas on this?

Hi Stew,

My ideas are that I'm not sure I understand your questions.  :-)

When you say "downloads" are you meaning like the ebooks that are in the "download" section in the Members' area?

Or, are you meaning the niche sites?  I use niche sites with WP. I add a new page, write a blog post and make a link in that post to my niche site.

My concept of WP is that it's supposed to be user friendly so I would think there would be some way to use the downloads...if you're referring to ebooks and probably even audio and the like. In fact, now that I think about it I think I have seen a WP site or two somewhere like that.

For the rest of your questions, I'll have to sit back and wait with you because I don't know the answers.

Hi Stew

With respect to your question "Is WP more SEO friendly?"

There is a plug-in available for WP users called 'all-in-one-seo". This plug-in enables you to put keywords as tags and these are then used as the meta keywords for the page/post.

I personally believe that wordpress is Search Engine friendly in that Google seems to rank the sites quickly; but, with all things search-engine related, it is the content of the site that will lead to better rankings; eventually!

A lady I first encountered on the 30 Day Challenge called Caroline Middlebrook has brought out a free e-book on creating sites with wordpress. You can get this at her blog:
http://www.caroline-middlebrook.com/blog/ (the link is in the top left corner)

Hope that helps

Can the downloads work with WP?
1.Try downloading the sites,
2.open up the one you want to transfer,
3.Click on 'view' at the top of your screen
4.Click on 'page source'
5.Highlight and right click mouse and copy
6.Open WP and ensure that your are in HTML and NOT visual
7.Paste what you have copied
8.Preview site to see if it has worked

If the screen comes up as you want it then the downloads work, if not then they don't!

If it has worked then you can go back into the edit function of wordpress and go to visual and rework the site until it is exactly what you want.

At least... that is what I would do - I hope it works for you !

Cheers

D

Jim

Thanks for posting that information for Stew.

Did you have post that somewhere else before? It seems familiar. If so, so much for my memory recall.  ;;:B

Dom

Thank you for posting how you do the WP thing.  I use WP and love messing with it--but so much of what I do is "by guess and by golly" that it takes me a whole lot of time.

This way, I have instructions all in one place.  So thank you. :-)

Karen, Dom, Jim:

Thanks for your great answers.

I have decided to take this niche marketing seriously and learn everything I can to increase my chances of success and WP seems to be one of the best platforms to use.

Your collective info is filed and will be referred to often during the building of my first couple of sites.

BTW - I just enrolled in Kevin Riley's Traffic Generation Workshop at the Warrior Forum.

$30 for the course - anybody else sign up?

Good luck with your niche marketing.

It would be nice to have an honest review of what Kevin is offering.

Hi Stew,

We have some changes coming for the PMC sites, but for right now the easiest way to use them with WP is to add the bonus articles with scheduled WP postings (I love that WP feature)

PS --> Haven't heard from ya in a while Stew. Hope everything is going well for ya!

Thanks Mark

I will be setting up a few WP sites to try with the articles.

Will keep you posted on that.

I've been very busy lately with my day job :( - I sell furnaces and AC's - this cold weather has kept me hopping and have not had much time to visit with you guys.

Hoping to change that.  ::P
