Timing Out on multiple big downloads
« on: February 23, 2009, 11:41:35 PM »
I've discovered that when I try to download a few large files, like the websites and some of the videos, that the site times out and the links in my download cue (I use Down Them All) all revert to the login page. I've been working around it, but I wondered if there was a trick to extending the time before the site times out?

Hi Deb

Just try downloading at the most 2 large files at a time.

I'm on broadband and this works ok.

Hi Deb,

I run into the same issue from time to time. Jim's answer is the perfect solution to the problem.

I use DownThemAll and I have broadband -- not the super-duper fastest speed they have, but I average about 180kbs (if I remember correctly).

The solutions suggested here are those I've implemented on my own. Just wondered if it was only me or if it were an issue with everyone.

Thank you to everyone who responded.

Crossing fingers here. So far I haven't had trouble downloading any of the files.

However, if it does happen I now know where to come to figure it out.

Thanks, everyone.

I would highly recommend Downaload Accelerator plus. It extremely unique. If you've got some few nicks to spare, I'd recommend you go for the premium version. The free version is also good.

Hi Deb,
Yes, I have ran into this quite a bit the last month or two. I usually don't have trouble with RRW downloads but some sites a REALLY bad and the only fix I have found is to not do more than two or three at a time.

Sorry I couldn't offer a better solution.

The main reason I asked the question is because I like to "set it and forget it" with downloads, but when the site times out on me, then DownThemAll starts reading the links (now "expired") as the login page and then I start getting duplicate file errors (keeps trying to download the same login page) and I lose the list of files I had in the queue.

I'm kind of peripatetic about downloading. I usually only visit the download pages about once every 4-6 weeks.

I've pretty much stopped downloading any IM files, which tend to be the biggies anyway -- especially if they're video tutorials. I'm focusing on niche PLR these days. I can always go back if I find any IM files I want to use to train myself.

Thanks again to all who contributed to this discussion.
